Lessons in Marazion

Alice’s teaching practise is at her house in Marazion. It is up an accessible lane just off West End and has adequate parking.

Before committing to a series of lessons, prospective students are welcome to come to a free consultation.

Parents can wait in the teaching room, outside in the hallway, in the garden or car. Siblings are welcome to wait too. There are toilet facilities and a chilled water dispenser for pupils and parents.
Pupils can wait after their allotted time to be picked up at a convenient time.

PIANO

Children are welcome from around six years old for piano studies. They should have a piano or electric piano at home to practise on and should have some support from parents to help them practise when they are very young. A guide to whether they are ready is:

They know their alphabet
They know right from left and up from down
They can focus for at least 20 minutes
It really helps if they can read at least a little

Special needs children are also welcome on a trial basis; Alice has experience with spectrum and dyslexic children and understands their needs and issues. More communication with parents may be necessary to keep me informed of any quirks!

Adult beginners are equally welcome as well as those wanting to brush up, restart or take studies to a more advanced level. There is no age limit!

SINGING

Children are welcome at any age to have fun singing sessions and then from 14 for more formal teaching. All singing at this age starts the same way, so it doesn’t really matter what style you enjoy. You will get a classical training but with the addition of more styles to suit your tastes and ability.

Adults are welcome from total beginners to more experienced classical singers and choir members.
Please note – Alice teaches classically and so may not be the right person to coach rock and folk singers – beyond a short course for basic technique.

The house is the third one down from the top of the lane and is clearly signed. Pull in where you can – there is a space usually in front of the front door.

We have a Jack Russell called Minnie who is VERY friendly, loves kids but barks a bit – please say if you want her shut away. She is usually with Jerry anyway (husband)
