Conducting and accompanying

Alice conducted choirs for thirty years, in Aberdeenshire and then in Plymouth, and still takes rehearsals and workshops for other people's choirs.

She has always worked with non-auditioned singers. Anyone who wanted to sing was welcome, and the choirs still came first in Scotland and reached UK finals. Rehearsals are kept fast and fun, with particular attention to vocal technique and to the performance detail that turns a run-through into a concert.

With Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society she prepared the chorus for concerts and operas taken by renowned guest conductors, to professional and critical acclaim, and conducted sell-out concerts of her own with professional soloists and orchestra: Soirée Française, the Mozart Requiem, Haydn's Nelson Mass and a concert performance of Dido and Aeneas. She also conducted The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and Iolanthe, with casts of all ages and most of the principals her own singing pupils.

With the University of Plymouth Choral Society she conducted Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, the Fauré Requiem, the Vivaldi Gloria, the Bach Magnificat and the Mozart Requiem at the Minster Church of St Andrew in Plymouth, alongside carols at Christmas. Coronavirus restrictions took away her last two concerts with the choir.

If you need a pianist to play for your own or your child's music exam, audition or concert, Alice and her husband Jerry are both experienced accompanists.

They play for all grades and beyond, and have accompanied professional singers, choirs and instrumentalists over many years. In the exam room or the concert hall you will get the best support they can give you.

Rates vary with the amount of rehearsal needed. Rehearsals can be held at Driftwood in Marazion at a time to suit you. Get in touch with the date, the pieces and how much rehearsal you would like, and Alice will come back with a price.
