Learning the piano is fun with Alice. She makes sure her pupils can really read music well from the start, so there are no hurdles later on. To Alice, the ability to sight-read is the most important aspect of playing, and her pupils are second to none in this field.

Children are welcome from around age 6. They should have a piano or keyboard at home to practise on, and some parental support is helpful for very young beginners. Piano pupils regularly gain distinctions in ABRSM exams, win classes in music festivals and enjoy performing in local concerts. Many pupils take no exams at all and learn in a pressure-free, enjoyable environment.

Adult beginners are equally welcome, as are those wanting to brush up, restart, or take their playing to a more advanced level. There is no age limit.

Singing pupils of all ages are taught, with informal fun sessions for younger children and more formal teaching from age 14 onwards. Alice uses classical repertoire to train young voices safely through the crucial period when the voice can so easily be damaged.

Over the years, pupils aged 15 to 80 have appeared in operas, concerts and shows. Some continue as wedding singers and corporate performers. Some have gone on to train at music colleges and theatre schools and now have professional careers. Alice has a near-100% distinction pass rate in ABRSM singing exams.

Adults are welcome, from total beginner to experienced classical singer or choir member. Alice teaches classically and may not be the best fit for rock or folk coaching beyond a short course in basic technique.

Alice offers the best in music theory tuition and has a 100% pass rate in ABRSM Grade 5 Theory. She also coaches instrumentalists for the aural tests in ABRSM and Trinity exams.

Alice and her husband Jerry are experienced accompanists, available to accompany singers and instrumentalists at concerts, auditions, exams and festivals. Rates vary with the amount of rehearsal required. Rehearsals can be held at Driftwood, Marazion, at a time to suit you.
